Amathuba Collective is a social enterprise that directly serves and impacts youth from urban under-resourced, instable communities by means of creating supportive ecosystems, fostering mental health and improving family economic stability through economic participation and financial inclusion.
At Amathuba Collective we believe that inviting young people to take charge of their own development and growth, focusing on their assets, talents and abilities, makes true empowerment possible.
Promoting overall wellbeing, resilience and self-esteem reduces discouragement and hopelessness and motivates work seekers to become proactive in driving their own success and in identifying and utilising available opportunities.
Creating nurturing spaces for young people to thrive
Amathuba Collective exists to actively create nurturing spaces for young people in South Africa. We place and support youth in work experience programmes such as YES and Learnerships and enabling ecosystems around them. We co-create collaborative networks with partners in various spaces, enabling small businesses to grow and connecting to opportunities and providing access to economic activity.
Recognising the complex set of challenges faced by young people to entering the world of work, we offer multi-layered, collaborative programmes which address these obstacles and holistically support participants towards personal and professional growth.
All projects are coalitions between various stakeholders, who all have the shared goal of empowering youth, stimulating local economies, and uplifting under-resourced communities.
The young people bring their hopes and ambitions, their ideas and plans, natural curiosity and wonderful energy – and we aim to create the spaces and high impact processes which enable them to step into their own power, build confidence and reach their full potential.
